Microsoft Surface Duo 2 with Snapdragon 888 showed in the benchmark
Company Microsoft last year, it surprised with a folding smartphone that went against the trend of flexible displays with its folding mechanism. According to the portal GSMArena his successor has now appeared in the Geekbench benchmark Microsoft Surface Duo 2 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset.
The new generation should have the same folding mechanism as the failed predecessor
Last year, the Microsoft Surface Duo probably couldn’t be more different from competing folding smartphones. It did not have a flexible display, which is currently common for this class of smartphones. Instead, he used two 5.6-inch AMOLED displays, which merged into a large 8.1-inch AMOLED display when the device was opened. Of course, this connection was not uniform and there was a small gap between the displays.
In addition, the device did not have an external display and, due to its large dimensions when closed, it was not a comfortable smartphone for telephoning. Other negative facts, such as the absence of a rear camera and older hardware, also contributed to the fact that the Surface Duo did not meet with success on the market. What his successor will look like is now shown by the leaked photos, and thanks to the Geekbench benchmark, we already know his chipset.
Thanks to Snapdragon 888, there will also be 5G support
The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 should use this year’s 5 nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which most current flagships have. This does not repeat the situation from last year, when its predecessor came on the market with a year-old chipset. Of course, only if it comes to market this year. According to the benchmark, Surface Duo 2 should have 8 GB of RAM and the Android 11 system.
In a single-core test, he managed to get 1091 points. In the multicore, he achieved an equally excellent result of 3517 points. This is more than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G won in the portal test GSMArena. His result was 979 points in the single-core test and 3441 points in the multi-core test. Thanks to the new chipset, Surface Duo 2 should finally not lack 5G support.
