Microsoft and Sony sign a deal to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation
Microsoft announces today that it has signed an agreement with Sony, pledging to keep the games call of duty for 10 years on PlayStation after the Activision Blizzard takeover. It is Phil Spencer, the boss of the branching gaming at Microsoft, who announces it by means of a tweet.
call of duty stay on playstation
“We are pleased to announce that Microsoft and PlayStation have signed a binding agreement to maintain Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard”, noted Phil Spencer. “We look forward to a future where gamers globally have more choices for playing their favorite games”he added.

Brad Smith, President of Microsoft, also reacted to agreement. “From day one of this acquisition, we are committed to addressing the concerns of regulators, platform and game developers, and consumers. Even after crossing the finish line for deal approval, we will continue to ensure Call of Duty remains available on more platforms and to more consumers than ever before.”he tweeted.
The agreement here is similar to the one signed with Nintendo, where Microsoft has committed to offer call of duty for 10 years on the group’s consoles. The agreement in question was signed in December 2022.
Activision takeover almost complete
Microsoft hasn’t yet completed the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but it may well be that the group will soon. Several regulators, such as the European Commission, have already given the green light. Microsoft also recently won a court battle with the FTC in the United States, with the local regulator doing everything to block the takeover.
Regarding Sony, it was complicated, since the company was also opposed to the takeover. But the deal of the day for call of duty seems to suggest that the two groups managed to negotiate behind the scenes.
As a reminder, Microsoft announced its intention to buy Activision Blizzard in January 2022 for an amount of 68.7 billion dollars.
