‘Meta is working on paid functions for WhatsApp and Instagram’
It seems that we will eventually see paid functions in the apps WhatsApp and Instagram. This is evidenced by new information from a generally reliable source. These would be new features for which users would be happy to pay, reports Meta, which previously used Facebook as its name.
Paid features in WhatsApp and Instagram
Telegram Premium is an example of a service that offers additional functionality to its users for a fee. Facebook, or rather Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp and Instagram, will also take this step in the future. There will be features in the future that Meta says users would be happy to pay for. There is no mention of which functions it concerns. Meta CEO John Hegeman says this to The Verge. He also reports that there will not be a function to remove advertisements, which can be found in some places, from the app.
Presumably, Meta is trying to boost the revenue model in this way. Apple has made some adjustments since the last version of iOS. Because users have to give permission for tracking, the ads are less relevant for many users, so that Meta sees this reflected in the bank account. Business users already have to pay for some options in WhatsApp. When WhatsApp and Instagram will get paid features has not been announced.
