Many hotly anticipated films postponed – and some until 2022
The cinema curse will not end in 2021 either. While a number of films were announced last year, the blockbusters are now gradually moving further into the year, or into the safe realms of 2022.
James Bond: No Time to Die, Uncharted, Morbius or King’s Man: The Beginning – the release dates of a number of long-awaited films have been postponed, and they will probably not be the only ones. In addition, we should be careful with all new maybe dates that are scheduled to take place in 2021 – this will most likely depend on the reopening of the cinemas.
All films that have been postponed so far – and for when
It’s a simple calculation: as long as the cinemas have to remain closed, we will probably not be allowed to see these films – and many others – yet. The question remains, when exactly the starting shot for the cinemas is fired again. In the meantime, you should also view the new release dates with a little skepticism.
Films that are expected to be released in 2021
You won’t be able to see that until October 2021 at the earliest:
Films that have moved into the safe distance of 2022 – or into infinity
- Release in January 2022: Morbius
- Release in February 2022: Uncharted
- Postponed indefinitely: Monster Hunter
- Postponed indefinitely: Wrong turn
- Postponed indefinitely: Tides
- Postponed indefinitely: Resident Evil prequel
What is left for us as …
Apart from streaming releases like Cherry (also with Tom Holland), which is due to be released on February 26th, we can expect that further films will be pushed back by further release dates. And probably until the end of 2021 at the earliest.
