Lightweight smart watch with support for 3D and thermal maps

Suunto 5 Peak’s portfolio includes the lightest sports watch with a GPS sensor. They weigh only 39 grams. To achieve a 41% weight reduction compared to the previous generation, the manufacturer replaced mineral glass with a plastic cover. The watch is also relatively thin with a thickness of only 12.9 millimeters. You can choose from six different strap colors, including a mottled variant that is made from recycled materials.
On the front of the body, the watch has a 1.1-inch display with a resolution of 218 x 218 pixels. It can display Suunto’s popular 3D and thermal maps well enough to help users find safer routes when planning a trip. More than 80 sports modes are also pre-installed on the watch. Suunto 5 Peak can track your steps, resting and active heart rate, calories burned, regeneration and sleep quality.
The watch still lacks some of the features of competing watches
Suunto 5 Peak battery life varies depending on the mode in which you use it. The watch lasts up to 10 days on a single charge in Time mode. They also offer three sports modes, namely Performance, Endurance and Tour. Performance mode offers 20 hours of continuous use, Endurance mode offers 40 hours of use and Tour mode allows 100 hours of continuous use with the GPS sensor on.
You can also use the watch to control the music on your smartphone and check its notifications. However, Suunto still does not offer some competitive features. An example is sending predefined responses to incoming messages directly from the watch. Suunto Peak 5 can now be pre-ordered in the US and Canada for $ 329. They will officially go on sale there from February 1. They will be available on the global market in the spring.
