Jeff Bezos finally has reason to be excited about a game
Jeff Bezos has reason to be happy: The billionaire shared a happy tweet on Twitter about the new Amazon game “New World”. After several initial difficulties, the group has apparently landed a successful coup.
At the end of September 2021, Amazon released its new PC game “New World”. The massively multiplayer online game, or MMO for short, allows players: inside not just the fantasy world of the island of Aeterum explore and experience fictional adventures, but also to master challenges together with other gamers.
With the imaginative graphics and the game structure, Amazon seems to have landed a success in the gaming world for the first time after several failures. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is also pleased. He shared his joy at the great demand for “New World” on Twitter.
He also refers to one Bloomberg article, which sheds light on the history of Amazon and its attempts at gaming. For example, the global corporation did not succeed in achieving PC gaming success for years, and the takeover of the Twitch gaming platform did not seem to help either. Amazon games such as “Crucible” were discontinued because they found neither audience nor success with critics.
Bezos is all the more pleased with the high demand for “New World”. It was actually so big that players sometimes had to wait because the servers could barely cope with the very high request. Shortly after its release, “New World” even landed first on the PC game platform Steam. Almost a week after the game started there more positive than negative reviews.
However, the success also has a bitter aftertaste. This is how the fantasy story on the island of Aeterum is supposed to be Show connections to the colonial history of North America. In addition, players report from Graphics cards that were shot by the game.
So this Amazon game is not completely problem-free either. In view of the previous failures, however, Bezos’ joy at the positive start of “New World” is fully understandable. It remains exciting how things will go on with “New World” and possible other games from the Amazon universe.
