iPod feeling for Spotify and Apple Music – this web app makes it possible
Do you sometimes miss the old iPod feeling? Scroll through the music library with the clickwheel or play a round of brick – that’s now possible again.
Do you remember the time when we didn’t have the more or less complete musical output of humanity in the form of Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music on our smartphone at all times? When we lovingly filled our MP3 players and created playlists? For many, the iPod was the player of choice – and it’s back now.

iPod classic feeling for the browser
iPod.js is a web app that you can use to play your Spotify or Apple Music library – including the user experience and look of a 6th generation iPod Classic from 2007. It is very easy to use: You log into Spotify via the browser – iPod.js currently only works with Google Chrome on the desktop – or Apple Music and the journey into the past begins.
Cover flow, navigation using the click wheel and the button in the middle – you get used to it quickly. And notices that it is easier to operate using a touchscreen than using the mouse to navigate a number of times in a circle.
The iPod.js was developed by the front-end developer Tanner Villarete – it divides the repository for the project GitHub with everyone interested. Villarete states that games can even be played via the web app. He is also considering adding more apps and maybe even Easter eggs to iPod.js.
Apple fans are nostalgic
Time and again, resourceful Apple fans manage to keep the memory of old products alive in a loving and creative way. Just recently, for example, an 18-year-old New Yorker developed an app with OldOS that brings the iOS 4 feeling to the new models.
Apple itself is not always enthusiastic about this kind of creativity – in the past one was iPod.js similar project after a short time the plug is pulled.
