‘iPhone 13 without Lightning port gets online recovery mode’
At least one variant of the iPhone 13 may not have a Lightning port or other physical connection. But how can you reinstall iOS if your device crashes? According to a new rumor, the iPhone 13 will get an online recovery mode for that.
Read on after the ad.
Online recovery mode for portless iPhone 13
Apple has reportedly been working on an iPhone without a charging port for years. At least one iPhone 13 series model would no longer have any physical connections. This can cause problems if your smartphone freezes and a simple reset does not work. After all, now you can still attach your iPhone to your Mac or PC with a cable to reinstall iOS.
The ‘portless’ iPhone 13 would get an online recovery mode instead. According to Appleosophy Apple is investigating two different variants. An iPhone 13 could send out some sort of emergency signal from recovery mode, which is picked up by iTunes. You can then reinstall iOS from your computer over a wireless connection. Apple would prefer this method because it is the most user-friendly.
The second method is similar to the first, but sends the signal directly to Apple. The user will then see instructions on their iPhone to reinstall iOS. A third variant was also being worked on to reinstall iOS via bluetooth, but it would have been found to be too slow and unstable.
If you install a fresh copy of iOS on your iPhone, you will lose all your data. You can probably also restore a backup to your smartphone via the online recovery mode on the iPhone 13. Then you must of course have made a backup of your data.
More rumors about the iPhone 13
In addition to an online recovery mode, the iPhone 13 is likely to receive many more novelties. For example, the device would also have Touch ID in addition to Face ID. Not as a physical button, but as a scanner below the screen. The iPhone 13 would also finally get a 120Hz screen, which should provide much smoother images. Knowing more?
