iOS 15 improves connection sharing security with WPA3
Users with iOS 15 enjoy better security with the tethering feature on their iPhone using WPA3. This protocol provides better general security.
On iOS 14, the connection goes through the WPA2 protocol. The Connection Sharing function therefore improves on iOS 15 thanks to WPA3. Users do not see anything in particular in use, they always benefit from an Internet connection through another device. The real important point here is better security.
According to its description, WPA3 uses a more resilient password authentication that provides stronger protections to users against attempts to guess the password by third parties. In other words, hackers around you will have a harder time becoming the password to connect to your iPhone and thus benefit from an Internet connection compared to iOS 14 for example.
You don’t have to do anything in particular: iOS 15 automatically activates WPA3 for the Connection Sharing function. And for those who are wondering, the protocol was announced in June 2018 and wants to be compatible with several products. However, some devices may not be able to connect to your iPhone if they are already a few years old on the clock.
