Instagram starts putting ads in search results
Instagram will get more ads. Indeed, the social network of Meta announcement that ads will appear in search results, initially as a test. We already find some on the main thread, between the stories, the Reels or even at the level of the Explore page.
While Instagram’s post vaguely states that the ads “will reach people who are actively searching for businesses, products and content”Shenny Barboza, spokesperson for the social network, told The Verge that “ads will show for search terms that match our community and recommendation guidelines”. This means that we could potentially see ads on all searches that meet these criteria.
But Instagram doesn’t stop there. It is also testing what it calls “reminder ads”, a new ad placement that “allows companies to announce, remind and notify people of future events or launches that may be of interest to them”.
Instagram explains that the goal of the new ads is to help users “discover new brands, new products or upcoming events”. The platform has steadily increased the number of ads in its app and this is just the latest example.
As said before, this is currently a test. Instagram does not say when it will be in place for all users.
