Instagram is going to test with paid subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are coming to Instagram. It starts as a test, where users get access to exclusive content.

Fans of Instagrammers with a large number of followers may be able to sign up for a paid subscription in the future. For a monthly contribution, followers can access exclusive content such as special Stories, special live streams and unique badges. Ten Americans who are popular on the platform can now participate in a test of Instagram.

When the test phase is completed, the functionality will be available first in the United States. The ‘influencers’ can determine the price of the subscription themselves, with the price being between 1 and 100 dollars per month. It is unclear when Instagram will also roll out the feature outside the US and whether those plans are in place at all.
