Whether it’s the climate crisis, political conflicts or pandemics: many employees around the world are facing major challenges. In our weekly ranking, we show you in which ten countries employees have the most rights.
Numerous crises are undermining the rights of workers around the world. The global legal index ITUC 2022 therefore documents the violations of workers’ rights by governments and employers.
But where in the world do workers have the most or fewest rights? These include, for example, the right to strike, collective bargaining, the formation of trade unions and the right to justice in general.
Workers: It is in these countries that people have the most rights
The worst countries for workers are currently Bangladesh, Belarus and Colombia. But what about the best countries for workers and their rights? In the following ranking we present you the results.
The ranking index is based on scores from 1 to 5+, with 5+ standing for countries where labor rights are not guaranteed for various reasons.
10th place: Uruguay
Tenth place goes to Uruguay. The South American country is known for its beaches, but has a rating of only 1 in the Global Rights Index due to repeated rights violations 2which is nonetheless positive.
