In the new VR game from Ubisoft, you will save the burning Notre-Dame -apkrig
In March, the documentary drama Notre-Dame on Fire by director Jean-Jacques Annaud, which takes viewers into the bowels of the famous cathedral at a time when it was engulfed in devastating flames three years ago, will premiere. We will be able to watch the Paris firefighters in a very difficult battle not only with time, but also in connection with the historical value of the building, with the need to damage the temple as little as possible. However, according to Variety magazine, the director was looking for other ways to mediate the whole operation, and according to Ubisoft’s vice president Deborah Papiernik, the VR experience from Ubisoft’s Notre-Dame de Paris: Journey Back in Time caught his eye. The title came out a year and a half after the incident and took the owners of virtual reality headsets around the cathedral as it looked in Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which the filmmakers have now decided to use in collaboration with Ubisoft.
“He knew we had a special relationship with Notre-Dame, and that’s probably why he came to us. I don’t think he would address anyone else, “the vice president revealed. She added that both parties had started discussing the possible form of the project at the beginning of last year and were finding out what kind of connection would make sense to them. The biggest constraint for Ubisoft was time, as the game was to be completed in a year to accompany the film to theaters, which automatically ruled out the possibility of a full-fledged VR title. However, this opened the door for the possibility of creating an escape game and including it in the catalog of partners from the ranks of VR casinos, which mentioned previous VR experiences from Ubisoft. “As with every escape game, it’s about puzzles and collaboration with teammates. You have to go through the cathedral, find relics, fight the fire and save Notre-Dame before time runs out, “Deborah Papiernik described the final concept of Notre-Dame on Fire.
How Ubisoft (not) saved Notre-Dame
In connection with the fire in Notre-Dame Cathedral, the topic of how Ubisoft developers will provide historians with their model of the temple used in Assassin’s Creed: Unity was discussed. This triggered a wave of guaranteed reports that the video game industry would contribute in an unprecedented way to the restoration of the historic landmark, without most of the media verifying where the information came from. In the beginning, there was an article by the founder of the Ubi-Source fan website, Joe Parlock, who only admired the details of the model from the mentioned game and thus certainly did not communicate the attitude of the developers from his position. If you are interested in details, we have dedicated a case to the case, which puts everything in perspective.
If you were to ask how much the described escape game is faithful to film processing, it is not completely one hundred percent. The developers, who naturally had access to the emerging image, used it as a template for some situations and to set the overall atmosphere, but this is not a direct adaptation. “The fact that we had such support fueled the motivation of our team,” Papiernik confirmed, and their project should be aware of this. It is also important that, unlike the film, which will first premiere in French cinemas, the game will be available in partner casinos, regardless of region. “We have agreed 630 international partner locations that have access to our games and this will be made available to them as soon as we press the button,” confirms the vice president, potentially addressing the Czech gaming house Torch VR in Prague, which has access to Escape the Lost escape games. Pyramid and Beyond Medusa’s Gate based on Assassin’s Creed.
Unfortunately, no images or trailers are available at this time, but it is likely that more details will emerge after the project is officially unveiled.
