iCloud Not Working: Solved All Your iCloud Problems

iCloud not working! Problems and Solutions

iCloud is the name of Apple’s cloud service. This ensures that all kinds of data between your devices is kept the same. It starts simple, with syncing your contacts, bookmarks, reminders and notes, but iCloud is also an email service, password manager and VPN (Private Transfer) service. In short, many parts of your Apple devices rely on iCloud. So all the more annoying when iCloud isn’t working – and that happens more often than you think.

Fortunately, in many cases there is an easy solution to your iCloud problems. And we list them here for you.

1. I can’t connect to iCloud

If you get an error message that you can’t connect to iCloud, it could be for several reasons. It may seem obvious, but first check if your internet is working. You can do this, for example, by going to Google in Safari.

If Google does work, the next step is to check the status of Apple services. The company has created a special status page for this. On Apple System Status you can see the status of the various services of Apple by means of dots. Green means: everything is fine. Yellow: Here are even smaller issues. Red: The service is currently unreachable and not working.

With the latter, the fault is not with you, but with Apple. Then there’s nothing left but to wait for Apple to fix the problem.

2. I get an error message from iCloud

Do you get a vague error message from iCloud, but are you sure you have internet and there are no problems with Apple itself? You may then first have to accept new terms of use. Message accidentally clicked away? Then go to ‘Settings>[je naam]† The message will then automatically appear again.

Isn’t it the new terms of use? Then logging out and logging back in often works wonders. To do this, go to ‘Settings>[je naam]>Log out’. To be on the safe side, also tap on ‘Media and purchases’ and choose ‘Log out’ there. Then you will log in again.

3. iCloud won’t sync data

Are the changes from one device not showing up on your other devices? Then something goes wrong with the sync. Sometimes you just have to be patient – ​​the first device has to upload its changes, and the other device has to download it again.

It is also possible that you have disabled a certain part of iCloud. You can check this via ‘Settings>[je naam]> iCloud. All parts are listed here. For example, is a reminder not synced to your different devices? Then see if the switch next to ‘Reminders’ is activated.

A third option is that your iCloud storage is full, so no more files can be uploaded to iCloud. In that case you have two options. Either you delete items from your iCloud (Drive, Photos and Notes often take up the most space), or you buy a storage plan. An additional advantage: with such a storage plan you also get immediate access to iCloud+.

4. iCloud keeps asking for my password

This is an old error that pops up every now and then. You are working on your iPhone, but out of nowhere the message appears that you need to sign in to iCloud. You do that neatly, but a few minutes later you see the same login again.

If Apple’s status page shows no problems, the first step is to restart your phone. Doesn’t that work? Then sign out and back in to iCloud on your iPhone.

Does that also have no effect? Then change your Apple ID password. You can do this via the Apple account page.

5. I can’t sign in to iCloud

If you’re trying to sign in to iCloud on your iPhone but get an “Authentication Failed” error, here are a few ways to fix it:

As always, restarting your phone works wonders. That solves most problems. Do you keep getting the error message?
Oddly enough, wrong date and time on your iPhone can cause the verification issues. You can restore this by going to ‘Settings>General>Date and time’. Make sure ‘Set Automatically’ is turned on.
