In order to circumvent US sanctions, Huawei is seeking its full independence. The company is preparing to open its first components factory in Wuhan, indicating its desire to develop its internal processors.
The Chinese manufacturer has been deprived of its Taiwanese founder TSMC for a few months. Its supplier offered Kirin processors which were a real asset for Huawei phones. In the meantime, US sanctions have tightened. Increasingly isolating the brand from the mobile phone market. A situation that could have condemned the firm but it seeks to find its independence vis-à-vis the United States.
Huawei will work on its internal power independently thanks to HarmonyOS
It was our colleagues from the Digitimes website who sold the fuse. Huawei is said to be building a factory to build its own equipment. This would be located in Wuhan with production scheduled to start in 2022. At present, 10,000 employees are in this plant, which is still at the research and development stage. Ultimately, this factory should subsequently produce internal chips, communications equipment as well as parts for cars. The objective is to be totally free from the yoke imposed by the United States.
Indeed, following the espionage accusations made by the Trump administration, the Chinese company can no longer collaborate with companies using American technologies. This desire for independence is also reflected in the software sector. In early June, Huawei unveiled its own operating system named HarmonyOS. One of the consequences of these sanctions was also the deprivation of an Android license. The OS is therefore launched by the company with the ambition also to convince other Chinese companies such as Xiaomi. With this potential decision on the hardware, the manufacturer would benefit from total independence.
