Huawei Watch GT 2 / 2e: An important update will bring the feature we have been waiting for a long time
Huawei smart watches have always been characterized by quality workmanship, a nice display and excellent durability. This also applies to the Watch GT 2 and Watch GT 2e models. The problem was that the user could not install their own applications in them. And this is exactly what, according to Gizmochina, will change now.
There is an option to install third party applications
Huawei was the first to support third-party application installation for the Watch GT 2 Pro a few months ago, and now it’s coming to the older models mentioned. We remind you that the latest watches from the Huawei Watch 3 series include the HarmonyOS operating system, which supports the installation of third-party applications from the beginning.
The first firmware to support application installation is currently only available for beta testers. When all potential issues are resolved, the update will arrive on all devices, including Slovak ones.
Both versions of the Huawei Watch GT 2 (42 mm and 46 mm) and the Huawei Watch GT 2e will receive support. The first information about the upcoming support for the installation of third-party applications for older Huawei watch manufacturers announced in February this year.
This all sounds good, but keep in mind that the current range of applications that can be installed is relatively poor. We don’t expect any more in the near future, and developers are likely to focus on newer watches with the ever-expanding HarmonyOS operating system.
The competition is also updating
Huawei is not the only manufacturer trying to keep its smart watch up to date. The competing Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 with the Wear OS 3 operating system and the possibility of contactless payments recently received a significant update. Equally important was the update for the popular OnePlus Watch, which brought support for Always on Display.
