Huawei: Legendary smartphone series returns – with a catch
Things have been anything but smooth at Huawei for a long time. So it is hardly surprising that the Chinese manufacturer remembers better times. Now there are indications of the possible return of a well-equipped range of cell phones. But Android has to be done without.
Huawei: old D-series could be resurrected
At Huawei, the signs point to a possible one Return of the D series. This caused a stir in 2012 and 2013 and was seen as an attempt by the group to also want to gain market share outside of China. The first model, Huawei Ascend D1, even made its way to Germany in the summer of 2012. But that was no longer the case with the successor, the Ascend D2 could only be bought in Asia.
Huawei said goodbye to the Ascend brand a long time ago. It is therefore unlikely that the new edition will be sold with this branding. Perhaps Huawei will pick up the sequence of numbers in addition to the “D” and present a Huawei D3. A performance is no longer expected this year, allegedly the series will not continue until 2022 (source: Weibo via Huawei Central).
Huawei’s Android alternative is impressive, just like ours Video shows:
How exactly the smartphone series should be positioned is not yet known. The Mate and P series already offer high quality cell phones, so maybe the D series not as a flagship to be led.
Huawei: New D series without Android
Android and access to the Play Store and other Google apps will also have to be dispensed with in the upcoming D series. US sanctions continue despite new rapprochements. In the case of D-cell phones, Huawei’s own development HarmonyOS is likely to be the Replacement for Android be used. The manufacturer can already point to successes here – and a real milestone has now also been reached.
