Huawei hasn’t had it easy lately, but it has nevertheless brought interesting devices to market. In addition, the Kirin 9000 flag chipset and its slightly split version 9000E were recently introduced. This time, the new chipset is aimed at the middle class and is the Kirin 820E.

Little brother of the original Kirin 820

According to information from the Huawei press release, the new Kirin 820E chipset is a “lightweight” version of the Kirin 820. It is made by a 7 nm process from TSMC and its advantage is an integrated 5G modem.

The chipset is equipped with a graphics processor Mali-G57, neural processing unit (NPU) Huawei Da Vinci and also supports technology Kirin Gaming+ 2.0. The chipset consists of a total of six cores. It is divided into three large cores Cortex A76 with frequency 2,22 GHz and three small ones Cortex A55 with frequency 1,84 GHz.

In addition, technologies such as image noise cancellation by blocking and 3D filtering are not missing (BM3D), which will help especially when shooting in low light. The first smartphone to come to market with the new chipset is the Huawei Nova 7SE Lohas Editon.

What about the competition?

All those who are somehow oriented in the world of smartphones have captured the arrival of the new, top chipsets Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888. However, they are disproportionately strong competitors for the new processor. For example, the new Exynos 1080 can compete directly with it, but we can find it in a bit more expensive devices. An interesting competitor is also Snapdragon 750G.
