How to set up and use automatic message deletion in WhatsApp?
Like Messenger, another communicator managed by Facebook, the popular and more versatile WhatsApp offers a feature automatic deletion of messages. Users have the opportunity to let the submitted posts disappear over time. While Messenger is a little more straightforward in this mode and deletes messages immediately after leaving a conversation, in the case of WhatsApp shelf life of seven days.

WhatsApp and automatic message deletion
The most recent settings will apply to all new messages in a particular chat. It will not affect messages that were delivered to you in chat or sent before this feature was turned on. In an individual chat, they can automatically delete messages turn on both users. In group chats, they can turn this feature on and off administrators only groups.

How to turn automatic removal on / off:
- Open a specific chat in the WhatsApp application.
- Click the name of the contact.
- Click on Automatic deletion of messages.

- Select an option On Off.
What are the rules for removal:
- The message will be automatically deleted even if the user does not open WhatsApp within seven days. However, until the user opens the application, a preview of the message may still appear in the notification.
- If you reply to a specific message, part of your answer will also be the text of the original message. If you reply to an automatically deleted message, the text of the original message may remain in the chat after seven days.
- If the message is automatically deleted forward to a chat in which automatic message deletion is turned off, the forwarded message in that chat will not be automatically deleted.
- If the user makes a backup before the message is automatically deleted, the message will be also included in the backup. Automatically deleted messages will be deleted as soon as the user restores the data from the backup in the application.
As you can see, the automatic deletion of WhatsApp messages is not as “action” and strict as with Messenger. In addition, it is able to block or report taking screenshots. Unfortunately, WhatsApp can’t do that. The user, on the other hand, has to delete possibility to copy even text. It is therefore necessary to be aware of these limitations and not rely on something that the application does not do.
