How to delete or deactivate your Twitter account

With so much social media violence, it is sometimes difficult to keep track of where you still have an account. If your favorite communication channel has become Instagram or if you find the atmosphere on Twitter sometimes too grim, you can choose to delete or deactivate your Twitter account. That’s how you do that.

Delete Twitter

There is a difference between delete and deactivate. Deleting will permanently delete your account, but it won’t happen immediately. Initially, it is deactivated for 30 days, so you can still recover your account if in doubt. After all, there are plenty of people who, after the umpteenth discussion on Twitter, think: “Ready now!” and angrily or emotionally wanting to delete their entire account, while after a good night’s sleep they think: ‘So, what should I tweet today?’

So there is a security option built in for people who want to delete their account and it is not possible to speed up this process. If you log in within those thirty days, your account will not be deleted. If you don’t, your account and all data associated with it will be gone forever. Deactivating is not a separate option, so you cannot choose to deactivate for a few months. However, you can deactivate for 30 days and you must log in again within that time so as not to lose everything.
