How and where to recycle your smartphone effortlessly?
The portable waltz has been part of our daily lives for many years now. We regularly change phones because there is always better. Manufacturers are watching us with their new, ever more sophisticated devices, with increasingly high-quality photo sensors, for example.
Each year, it would be more than 20 million French people who would change their phones !
The consequence is that, unless we resell them each time we buy new ones, we find ourselves with drawers in which sleep smartphones completely neglected and often forgotten. According to one estimate, these are 100 million devices that would be affected by this shelving.
It would be very unfortunate to throw them in your normal trash because they contain products and heavy metals dangerous for the environment. Not to mention rare metals: gold, platinum, lithium, silver, etc.
Be aware that there are programs that can allow you to get rid of it for free and without much effort. Because if they are no longer useful to you, they can experience a second life in many forms.
The base of the base
For decades now in France recycling centers which gradually came to the fore. They no longer only collect your tree branches and your old refrigerators, but also your electronic items, including smartphones.
To find out which one is closest to you, you can call your town hall who will give you all the information on the subject.
Green infinity and beyond
Recycling has become a real social issue that can be found in the discussions of many market players. To take a step towards renewal and at the same time offer an ecological image, many brands now collect all electronic products, including cell phones.
You will therefore find bins provided for this purpose in some supermarkets. You can also go to shops Darty, Fnac Where Orange who will recover your smartphones without asking you for an account.
For a few euros more
If you want make a few euros by selling your phones, many possibilities exist in physical stores, such as Easy Cash and Cash Converters, but the prices are often very low. You can also visit the offices of The post office at the counter La Poste Mobile. You will be given a redemption price, you leave your phone, and you receive a check at home.
If you don’t want to travel and send your phone directly by mail, some sites also offer you take back your devices after a purchase estimate depending on the model and its condition. Your mobile will be reconditioned and resold. This is the case with the excellent platform Backmarket, or Magic Recycle to name just a few. For example, you can resell a Samsung Galaxy A41 for 76 € or a Galaxy Note 10 for 199 €. This may be worth it for older devices and less for recent ones that can easily be resold … Unless you don’t want to take the lead.
For the good cause
If you don’t especially want to collect money with your old phone and do a good deed, you can donate it to companies that will turn your old phone into a donation.
This is the case for example of the site jedonnemontelephone.fr which gets rid of your phone very easily. Just print a label and send your mobile phone in a box.
The latter is then received on the site of Bocage workshops, a property of the network Emmaus located in Loire-Atlantique. There it will be either repaired, reconditioned, or even boneless for the recycling of certain materials which will be used to manufacture other objects. Many employees are in the process of integration and can therefore resume the path of a stable life thanks to this place. So you are doing a double good deed.
Another solidarity initiative, MyExTel takes your phone back and agrees to pay the sum of the value of your device to an association of your choice. To make it easier, you can even request that a postage-paid envelope be sent directly to your doorstep. So you will not have not even to print any label. The fundraising has so far made it possible to donate more than € 147,000 to associations.
Here too the approach goes further than simple ecology since the employees of the company are for the most part people with intellectual disabilities.
So all you have to do is open your phone drawer and choose the way to dispose of it that speaks to you the most.
