Horizon Forbidden West: Machine Race – Locations & Rewards

Horizon Forbidden West has numerous side activities, including the machine races. In the following we show you all the locations of the races and what reward awaits you at the end.

All machine races in the video

The machine races do not belong to the collectibles (relic ruinsvantage points, flight recorders, signal lenses, surveillance drones) in the game, but to the side activities such as machine disputes or the hunting areas.

There are 4 machine races in total in the forbidden west. The goal in a race is, of course, that you finish first and leave your competition behind.

By the way, if you complete 2 out of 4 races successfully, you will receive a trophy. After you have mastered all 4 machine races, you will receive a reward that is impressive (more on that below). No race is missable you can also complete them after completing the story. As soon as you find and successfully complete the first race, the following machine races will be displayed on your map.

Sometimes the tax is a little crazy, unfortunately that’s normal. If you fall too far during the race, you can always press the options button and stop the race. Then you can just start it again. There is no penalty whatsoever for this practice.

During the race you should make sure that you collect and use the arrows hanging from ropes, mines and speed boosts. You can make all the difference. You should also attack enemies mounted next to you with a melee attack to stun them.

You must first find and complete the Drying Wish machine race. It is east of Brennspeer, we show you the localities and the race in the following video:

Machine Race Weeping Cliffs

The second machine race is on the southwest coast, west of the town of Thornmarch. We show you the race in the following video:

Machine Race Bonebleach Rift

The machine race Bonebleach-Rift can be found in the snowy north of the map, northwest of the village of “The Bulwark”. The race is characterized above all by its sharp turns. It’s the only race where you should slow down in the corners. We show you in the following video:

Machine Race The Stillsands & Reward

The last machine race “Die Stillsande” can be found in the desert. East of the relic ruin “The Stillsands” and north of the camp “Glimmerwinkel”. If you complete it successfully, you will receive one of the nine legendary weapons: Carja’s Bane (Warrior Bow).

Important NOTE: You have to loot the bow from the spawned box after the last race. You don’t get them automatically.
