Hercule Poirot will return in two more games -apkrig
The French company Microids obviously “fell in love” with adaptations and licensed templates. After the Smurfs, Asterix, Tintin, Garfield or perhaps Vertigo, according to tension master Alfred Hitchcock, he is now returning to the writer Agatha Christie. Last year, fans of the Belgian detective experienced the adventure Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The First Cases. As the subtitle suggests, this was a kind of “prequel” and Poirot’s first major case. The game is available on PC, Mac and consoles. And already in 2016, Microids released the adventure Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders.
However, adventure specialists are now returning to announce a longer-term partnership with Agatha Christie Limited, which represents the deceased author today. Both companies have signed an agreement for two more plays inspired by the work of famous writers. These titles are set to take players into the world of Detective Hercule Poirot through one classic and one brand new adventure. At the same time, Microids itself recalls a previous successful collaboration on Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders and Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The First Cases.
One game from Lyon and the other…?
The planned games will be developed by two different studios. We already know one of them. It will be a new first party team Microids based in Lyon. The company founded it last June, stating that it should specialize in adventure. The studio is run by David Chomard, who has been working in the gaming industry since 1996 and has worked at Atari, among other places. Microids chief Stéphane Longeard said the new studio was part of a new strategy launched last year. Microids obviously no longer want to rely only on cooperating teams.
That next study could easily be one of the classic partners of Microids. For example, the Spanish Pendulo Studios (Runaway, Yesterday, Blacksad: Under the Skin) are offered at random after the completion of the Alfred Hitchcock – Vertigo game.
“It’s amazing that even 100 years after my great-grandmother’s first novel was published, her stories and characters are still popular all over the world, in all different formats, including games.”
Of course, both sides praise the new contract. “Agatha Christie’s work is timeless and will captivate fans of detective stories of all generations. We can’t wait to tell you more about a project we’ll be working on very soon, ”said Microids Lyon head David Chomard. Alain Milly says the extension was natural after the previous partnership. “We are honored by this renewed confidence in the success of Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders and Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The First Cases,” he adds.
“It’s amazing that even 100 years after my great-grandmother’s first novel, her stories and characters are still popular around the world, in all different formats, including games,” said James Prichard, who runs Agatha Christie Limited. “We are excited to continue working with the Microids team and look forward to developing these two new games with Hercule Poirot,” he added.
Microids promise to share more information soon.
Hercule Poirot of ones and zeros
Hercule Poirot is not a newcomer to the world of video games, but he has fewer titles than you might think or deserve. It is worth mentioning Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express (2006), Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile (2007) or Agatha Christie: Evil Under the Sun (2007). As already mentioned, Poirot took a trip to the digital world a few years ago in the adventure Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders, published by Microids, but did not come close to the reputation of the original. And then again last year in the better rated title of Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The First Cases. In addition to Poirot, we also saw the 2005 Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None adventure from The Adventure Company.
