Got mobile Doom game working on Windows

Also in 2022 it is still fun to get started with Doom RPG on an unorthodox device.

Doom RPG, remember that? Maybe you never played it. This was a Java game released in 2005 to be played on the hip mobile phones of the time. A number of smart minds from Costa Rico have received a working port from this game. This is how you can play Doom RPG on Windows.

The developers, known as GEC.inc, have put the game online as a free download. Unfortunately it is not plug and play. You have to get the original files yourself to actually play the game. You can then get it from an old mobile phone, if you still have such a thing lying around somewhere.

Actually, it’s very orthodox: getting Doom RPG to work on Windows. Normally the joke is to get Doom working on printers, smartwatches, refrigerators and so on. However, this port is not as easy as it sounds.
