Google will charge for the service in July, which has been free for years

When a new service is launched, it is often possible to try it for free for some time. But when it grows into a huge colossus, for which future applicants normally pay, it is difficult to count on free use. Sometimes the call comes to pay after a year… and sometimes after sixteen. What is this all about? You may remember 2006, when Google first came up with basic office and cloud tools Google Apps for companies and individuals. The historical predecessor of the G Suite and the current Workspace, among other things, offered free use of e-mails on their own domain and other benefits. But that’s the end of it now.

Corporate group administrators and other users of the original “Google Apps legacy free edition” received a message a few hours ago that they would have to Accounts included in this service must necessarily switch to one of the paid Workspace tariffs. Especially for companies that have relied on this free regime so far, this will be bad news. But after sixteen years of free use, they probably have nothing to complain about.

The mentioned form of the package officially ceased to be offered (then already under the name G Suite) in 2012. However, existing users could keep it in its original form. Specifically, July 1, when Google begins requesting a switch to paid Workspace. If users do not set up their own subscriptions, the company will set them up for them automatically according to the current use of the services.
