Google removes the application on Android 12, end clap
According to revelations from the XDA Developers site and a statement from Google relayed by our colleagues from the 9To5Google site, Google is preparing to remove the Android Auto mobile application on Android 12. Indeed, it is the integrated driving mode the Google Assistant which will take over on the next Google OS.
Launched in 2014 during Google I / O, Android Auto has established itself year after year as a must-have when it comes to a connected and intelligent driving experience. The OS has been enriched with many features, such as support for WhatsApp and Telegram, Coyote, the integration of a split screen mode or even the suggestion of music and podcasts.
And since 2016, it is possible to use, configure and personalize your Android Auto experience thanks to a dedicated mobile application called Android Auto for mobile. Well, if you are an avid user of this app, know that it will have to be done away with, on Android 12 in any case. As revealed by our colleagues from the XDA Developers site, Google to phase out Android Auto’s mobile app on his next OS.
Indeed, Google will prefer it rather Google Assistant’s integrated driving mode, launched two years ago. The Mountain View firm has also confirmed the news to our colleagues on the 9To5Google site. The Android Auto mobile app will no longer be available on Android 12, but will remain so on older versions of the OS. In fact, the Driving mode of Google Assistant will change to “Android 12 ″ integrated mobile driving experience.

The Android Auto app gives way to the Driving mode of Google Assistant
“Google Assistant Driving Mode is our next evolution in mobile driving. For people who use Android Auto in supported vehicles, this experience will not go away. For those who use the Android Auto experience on the phone (Android Auto mobile application), they will be transferred to the Driving mode of Google Assistant. From Android 12, the Driving mode of Google Assistant will be the integrated mobile driving experience ”, states the American company.
You will understand, users of the Android Auto mobile application will eventually migrate to Driving mode offered by Google Assistant. As a reminder, the main interest of this application was to be able to enjoy Android Auto without having a control screen compatible with the OS in your vehicle. The app provided a practical interface for driving with large icons, quick access to Google Assistant, Google Maps and certain multimedia applications such as Spotify for example.
