Android 12 can start two apps at the same time
Google will probably release a first version of Android 12 in the coming weeks. But first information about new functions appeared beforehand. This time it concerns the multitasking capabilities of the operating system. 9to5Google has discovered that you can start two apps at the same time in Android 12 in the future. For example, if you often use Google Maps and WhatsApp at the same time, you can turn it into your own app icon, with which both apps can be started at the same time directly in the split screen.
However, this feature is not entirely new. Google is looking at the function from the competition. Samsung introduced this to its surface four years ago with the Galaxy Note 8 – Microsoft recently also in the adapted Android version for the Surface Duo. Google could not only do a favor for other manufacturers who do not have their own solution in use, but also lay the foundation for their own folding mobile phone. According to rumors, Google should actually work on such a device. The Android operating system has to learn new features that are needed on such devices in order to feel the advantages of the two displays.

Android 12: What else to expect
A few months ago it was announced that Google will probably open Android 12 to more app stores. Just like with the browser, Google could give users a little more choice and not have a monopoly. Android 12 should also get really useful functions. So apps can probably be put into hibernation. This means that apps that are no longer used require less storage space and cannot work secretly in the background. GIGA will keep you up to date as soon as further changes become known.
