“Google is going to release Pixel subscription in Europe: that’s how it works”
Google may want to release its Pixel Pass subscription in Europe. In exchange for a monthly fee, you get to use a Pixel phone with all of Google’s premium plans and repairs included. After two years you can also choose a new Pixel.
Google Pixel Pass
In the United States, Google has introduced the Pixel Pass with the launch of the Pixel 6 series. It is a monthly subscription that immediately gives you a Google phone, including a lot of extra services from Google. LetsGoDigital has now discovered that Google has registered the Pixel Pass name as a trademark in Europe as well.
Google patented the name on January 7 with the EUIPO, or the European Union Intellectual Property Office. That is of course no guarantee that there will actually be an expansion of Play Pass, but it does show that Google is at least considering such an expansion in Europe.
What do you get with Pixel Pass?
In the United States, you can get a Pixel 6 phone for $45 a month, and the Pixel 6 Pro for $55. If you trade in your old phone, you get a discount on the subscription costs and you can choose a new phone every two years.
Google also guarantees updates for its phone and also includes any repairs and replacements. Users can also use the paid services YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium and Google One. The latter gives you 200 GB of cloud storage for all your photos and files.
Pixel phones are officially not available in the Netherlands and it is expected that Google will make the subscription available sooner in neighboring countries such as Germany and the United Kingdom. When that will be the case is unknown. We explain in this article how best to buy a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro in the Netherlands.
