Germans have a clear demand

Switching to electric cars is a question of faith for many. High costs and more environmental pollution in production, but no emissions and pay less when the Stromer is driven for the first time – that makes you ponder. In Germany, the environmental bonus helps get over the pain of purchasing, but that is apparently not enough for many.

Bitkom survey: Germans want more funding for e-cars

When it comes to funding for e-cars and e-mobility in general, it can be a little more. This was the result of a survey commissioned by the digital association Bitkom. According to this, 72 percent of those surveyed are of the opinion: “Electromobility must now be strongly promoted.” Exactly three quarters would also like more funding for digital offers that enable environmentally friendly and comfortable mobility.

Apparently, almost every eighth household (12 percent) is seriously considering moving to buy an electric car in the next two years. According to Bitkom, the proportion of those who want to buy an electric car has increased slightly. In January, i.e. before the start of the war in Ukraine, this was still an option for 10 percent (source: Bitkom).

The rise leads among other things to the high fuel prices return. 8 percent gave high petrol and diesel prices as the main reason for wanting to switch to electric cars soon. For another 15 percent, this is one reason among others. Nevertheless, 71 percent stated that they were planning to turn their backs on combustion engines anyway.

Prices at the pump burden consumers

According to Bitkom CEO Dr. Bernhard Rohleder. It therefore need “a rapid expansion of e-mobility, of the charging infrastructure and of intermodal and digital mobility as a whole”. Bitkom also sees steps along this path as a means of becoming less dependent on fossil fuels and their import from Russia.

If you want a lot of environmental bonus, it’s better to buy an e-car today than tomorrow:

1,003 people in Germany aged 16 and over took part in the representative survey. On the one hand, the results show that interest in e-cars and electromobility is growing. on the other hand many respondents want more support. With prices soaring and inflation continuing at record levels, that’s no wonder. Even the ADAC had recently spoken out in favor of avoiding car journeys as far as possible. However, the plans of the traffic light government provide for the environmental bonus to be gradually reduced.
