From now on, Android can only be controlled with a face
Google has decided to add two new features to Android to make it easier for people with disabilities to use their smartphones. The innovations allow them to control the device only with facial expressions, such as raising an eyebrow or smiling. The Android Central portal informed about the news.
Google is introducing the update later this week
The new technology uses a selfie camera and turns it into a tool that replaces the keyboard, mouse or touch itself for disadvantaged users. In addition, users will be able to customize gestures to suit their range of motion.
Basic gestures include, for example, a gesture for browsing clickable options and a gesture for displaying them, but there is also the option to set a gesture to return to the home screen, display notifications, and pause gesture recognition. The function can be enabled in the system settings in the Simplified Operation section.
The second novelty is intended for people with speech disorders. With Preset Gestures, Project Activate helps them, for example, send text messages, make phone calls, or convert text to speech. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play store, but is only available to users in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia.
Along with these innovations to simplify operation, the company is adding handwriting recognition to its Lookout application. The application, which was introduced at Google I / O 2019, can now read handwritten text in Docs mode. In addition, the app will now be able to recognize the euro and the Indian rupee, and Google plans to add more currencies in the future.
