Fitbit smartwatch for kids unveiled
Fitbit was acquired by Google, but the group continues to operate under its name and is preparing a connected watch for children. Photos of the watch leaked today thanks to 9to5Google.
The screen is much smaller than the actual surface and the black frame serves to hide this fact, as Fitbit does with its fitness trackers.
We can see what appears to be a camera at the top. This element was not part of the original rumor for the device for children, but a leak from last year mentioned a regular smartwatch with support for mobile networks and a camera that has been canceled. It looks like this item has been taken over, which would be helpful for parents’ safety and peace of mind.
Design-wise, the kids’ smartwatch is essentially a bulkier and thicker Fitbit Sense/Versa, with a light blue case. Buttons can be found on the left side, including a red one at the top and a yellow one at the bottom. A hole for what could be the mic sits between the two, while the other side features a grille for the speaker.
The bracelet is also colored and it seems that it can be detached. On the other hand, there is no heart rate sensor. On the OS side, the watch obviously runs on Fitbit OS and not Google’s Wear OS.
Fitbit has not yet formalized this connected watch for children. But if we are to believe the rumors of the corridor, it will arrive in 2024.
