Fitbit Charge 5 users are in the dark after firmware update
The Fitbit Charge 5 is, in our opinion, a complete fitness tracker that is nowhere out of place. Unfortunately, for some, the latest update for the Fitbit Charge 5 is out of place. This update causes problems. So it might be better to wait a while before updating to the latest firmware.

Fitbit Charge 5 causes problems
Fitbit has a new update with version number 194.61 ready for the Charge 5. This update comes with a whole list of changes including new watch faces and general bug fixes and improvements. All exercise modes are also available in the Exercise app after the update, and your most recently used workouts are now at the top.
Unfortunately, there is also less good news. A number of Fitbit Charge 5 owners, who have installed the update, are complaining about excessive battery consumption and eventually a black screen. There are several reports (via Android Authority) on the Fitbit forum of users with fitness trackers becoming completely unresponsive after installing the latest update.
Unfortunately, Fitbit’s response is slow. Even though the issue came to light 11 days ago, the support team is still struggling to provide a solution. So far they only come up with the standard solutions, such as restarting the Charge 5, syncing the device via the Fitbit app, and checking for firmware updates. But these standard solutions have not worked for most people with the problem.

As a solution for affected consumers, Fitbit customer service is reportedly offering a 35% discount code toward the purchase of a new Fitbit device, provided your Charge 5 is still under warranty. If not, there is no solution. There doesn’t seem to be a way to prevent the Charge 5 from updating automatically either, unfortunately. We don’t know if the update has been discontinued as reports of issues are still coming in.
