Find out who is behind this unknown mobile number
We all received a call from an unknown number, starting with 06 or 07. No name is displayed, we do not know who is on the other end of the line. So when in doubt, we prefer not to answer, telling ourselves that if it’s important, the person will leave a message. If despite everything, you are curious to know who called you, here are some simple techniques to find the owner of the line!

ThroughGoogle
Sometimes the simplest is the most obvious. The search engine can allow you to identify the owner by making a simple query. However, this rarely works, as most numbers are private.
- Go to Google
- Search the number via the search bar
- For even more precision, add the suffix intext:
Through Facebook
It is also possible to find a phone number through Facebook. Like Google, the social network also offers a reverse directory. Well, to find the match, the caller must have associated his telephone with his account, having checked in the parameters ‘I want to be found via my telephone number’. This method also works on LinkedIn.
- From one of the two social networks, go to the search field
- Enter the phone number you are looking for
The best mobile reverse directory is… Facebook!

Via a reverse directory
You can also turn to conventional reverse directories. They are nevertheless more oriented around fixed numbers, which are more usually referenced. Several directories exist online.
Yellow Pages
Bringing together professional and private numbers, this reverse directory is one of the oldest with a large database.

Do you remember their advertisements? They go back almost 20 years and yet, the intelligence service telephone is always there to inform you, now also, through a free site.

Other Free Reverse Directory, that of Orange is interesting, because it offers, in addition to searching for a number in its database, to identify short numbers (often customer services or toll-free numbers) but also premium rate calls (the famous 08).
If none of this worked, you can also directly contact the voicemail of your correspondent and see if you recognize the voice. To do this, contact one of the numbers below and follow the instructions:
- For Orange: 06 80 80 80 80
- For SFR: 06 10 00 10 00
- For Bouygues: 06 60 66 00 01
Our advice though: ignore these calls. You should also know that it is possible to oppose telephone canvassing. To do this, the government has launched Bloctel, a free service allowing you to register your number on a red list, prohibiting any call for commercial purposes.
