Final test for group 8 will be ‘transfer test’
If the score of the transfer test is higher than the advice of the school, the advice must be reconsidered and the pupil can still go to a higher school type.
Too little too late
There will also be one registration moment for secondary school: the week before 1 April. The transfer test will be held well before that, in February. Now the registration is still before the final test, which is therefore seen as ‘mustard after the meal’. According to Minister Wiersma (Primary and Secondary Education), the new changes will give every child an equal chance of being admitted to his favorite school. In this way you know faster where your child stands.

Promising education system
The PO Council, the umbrella organization for primary education, is pleased with the changes. “We have often spoken out in favor of major maintenance in order to achieve a promising education system. Later selection and more flexibility: that is necessary,” says the PO council in a response to NOS.
The changes will be implemented from 2024. Students who are now in group 6 would therefore be the first children to test the new system.
