FIFA 22 will add cross-play on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC
Electronic Arts announces that its game FIFA 22 will soon adopt cross-play. PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Stadia players will be able to compete on the field, regardless of their medium.
Cross-play is coming soon to FIFA 22
The cross-play test on FIFA 22 will arrive soon according to Electronic Arts, which does not give a date for as much. This will be available with Seasons and Online Friendlies modes. The group noted :
Although we want to allow our players to play with as many friends and other people as possible, we have limited the test to these two modes in order to reduce the risk of introducing new problems into the game. We’re confident that the gameplay data and feedback we’ll get from these two modes will help us determine how cross-play might be implemented in future titles.
A notification will appear at the bottom right of the screen when cross-play is available. Players who wish to can deactivate it by pressing a button. On the screenshot which concerns the PS5 version, we can see that it will be enough to press the R2 button.
Note in passing the mention “Cross-play could be implemented in future titles” in the Electronic Arts statement. We can therefore suspect that FIFA 23 will have the right to novelty from the launch.
Regarding FIFA 22, the game is offered during the month of May for all those who have the PlayStation Plus. Just claim it on the PlayStation Store to have it in your library “for life”. It will remain playable as long as you subscribe to PlayStation Plus.
