Facebook is working on VR remote working app
Facebook is launching its open beta for Horizon Workrooms. This is a VR app that allows people to collaborate remotely using the Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset.
Horizon Workrooms and Metaverse
Companies that start working with Horizon Workrooms see their employees as avatars in a virtual office space where video meetings can be held. Horizon Workrooms is a derivative of the increasingly popular working from home since the corona pandemic. The Horizon Workrooms app aims to bring both worlds together in one metaverse. According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this is a shared online world in which people can communicate, work and play in a virtual environment without the intervention of TVs or monitors.
Working without colleagues around you can be lonely at times, and brainstorming with other people just doesn’t feel the same when you’re not in the same room.

The beta version of Workrooms is used in combination with the Oculus Quest 2 VR glasses and you can register for Workrooms via this website. After creating an account, the Horizon Workrooms app can be downloaded in the Oculus Store and the VR glasses can be connected. Then you invite your colleagues to perform the same steps.
The Workrooms app makes it possible to work together with 16 people in a virtual space. Don’t have Oculus VR glasses? You can also start a video meeting with 34 people. To do this, use your laptop or computer to dial into Workrooms via a video call. You can then view the entire room, interact with your teammates’ avatars and share your screen.
Oculus is a producer of VR glasses and has been part of Facebook since 2014. Facebook’s latest product is the Oculus Quest 2, which has recently been upgraded. The Quest series aims to make VR more accessible to a wider audience by removing the PC as a requirement for a virtual reality experience and Horizon Workrooms is one example.
