Exciting game story ‘The Last of Us’ turned into series

The two parts of The Last of Us released together have been named game of the year more than 500 times. It is mainly the emotional storylines, strong characters and exciting gameplay that gamers rate well.

Since Monday, January 16, you can see the game story ‘The Last of Us’ on HBO as a series. There will be 9 episodes in total. HBO is very pleased with the good cast and strong production team. The Last of Us story

On May 8, 2022, we already shared the first leaked images about HBO’s The Last of Us. For those who haven’t played the game yet, here’s a brief explanation of the story: the series takes place in early 2013. The world has been devastated for decades, after a fungal plague in 2003, a comprehensive pandemic, turned humans into a zombie. These vegetable zombies cause death and destruction. Those infected by a zombie bite turn into a zombie themselves.

Joel, 56, who is a true survivor and father, is followed along with 14-year-old Ellie to the western United States. Ellie is shown to be immune to the fungus, which seems like a key to a potential vaccine. This puts a lot of pressure on Ellie and Joel. Father and survivor Joel must smuggle Ellie out of a heavily guarded quarantine zone. As the episodes progress, their bond grows stronger.

Series gets four stars from AD

According to AD, the terrifying zombies look crazy thanks to the brightly colored fungi growing from their skulls. In addition, the clever writing and the good chemistry between the actors is nice to watch. “The acting is more nuanced than in the game and emotionally successful.” In the series there are a few deviations from the original game. Among other things, the search for Joel’s brother is what makes the series less game-like.

The Last Of Us gets four stars from AD and says it is ‘just’ a good series. Since most games that are turned into movies or series are bad, this review is good news. Not the zombies, but the story of the two characters are central. This makes it highly recommended for non-gamers as well.

Own review series

When my friend asked if I wanted to watch this series, I honestly had a hard head. Especially when I heard that there were zombies in the series, I was afraid of a series that seemed anything but realistic. This fear was not necessary, as I knew after watching the first episode. The first episode ‘When You’re Lost in the Darkness’ immediately caught my attention and so every week watching became a fact.

Even though I haven’t played the game myself, the story is still easy to follow. The characters each have their own story, which come together well. I also think the timing of the series is excellent, just after the corona pandemic. Here we also had to deal with quarantine. I seem to be able to move better in the series because of this. Highly recommended to watch for those who have or have not played the game. I can’t wait for season 2, but will wait for the last 3 episodes of this season first.
