End Covid benefits. Unlimited Google Meet will now be paid
In recent months, Google has dramatically “dug over” its range of office applications and tools, which are now grouped together mainly in the newly named Workspace package (formerly G Suite) after the logo change. Part of this transition was also to be smooth make some services available to regular users with a basic Google account. And also directing people to the new paid Workspace Individual tariffs with which they will receive access to advanced features. The move was eventually postponed by the pandemic, but the relief is slowly coming to an end.
An example is the Meet communicator, which is for ordinary users the hourly limit for group calls has been reintroduced. So far, three or more subscribers have been able to talk via Google Meet for up to 24 hours. This limit will continue to apply to regular users only for a two-party connection. Interested parties can still access a longer group call only through a paid Workspace Individual. He comes out monthly on $ 10, ie about 220 CZK. At the moment, however, it is not yet available in the Czech Republic.
If the owners of regular unpaid Google accounts (a standard user with access to Gmail) reach the hourly limit of the connection, they will receive a notification in the 55th minute. If the hourly limit for group calls via Meet should limit you, you can reach for it alternative in the form of Google Duo. It does not have a friendly environment and functions, but it is enough for a basic connection.
