Elyze: an application for better voting?
Elyze is a French application which starts from a very sad observation, but not really surprising: 60% of 18-30 year olds do not want to vote in the next presidential elections in April 2022. Lassitude, “all rotten”, disconnection with politics: the reasons are numerous, especially since the Covid has not helped. Many are the “antipass” people who have been in a political camp for years and who refuse to vote for leaders who no longer represent them, on the left as on the right.
Elyze and I …
For the undecided or disillusioned, Elyze allows you to get a “brand new” opinion. How? ‘Or’ What ? Just like the Tinder dating app. An anonymous political proposal is displayed on the screen: if you are for, you swipe right and if you are against, you go to the left. It is also possible not to speak out if you do not know enough about a specific subject or if you are not sure. After 50 answers, you can start to see a result taking shape, but you will have to answer twice so that the app can really be precise and offer you a “podium” with the politicians who stick the most to your convictions. Non-partisan and without advertising, Elyze contains 500 candidate proposals which will be updated and enriched until the date of the vote. The subjects are quite varied: environment, economy, education, solidarity and health, society, international, culture, etc.
500 proposals, but only one candidate!
Some examples ? Are you for or against : ” Restoring good relations with Russia “,” Eliminate the contribution to the public audiovisual sector “,” Establish a universal national service “,” Shut down wind turbine installations “,” Reduce the number of civil servants “,” Introduce the right to vote at 16 “,” Establish a student income of 850 € “,” Triple the ISF “,” Exit France from the European Union “, Etc.
If you do not understand the proposal well, go to Learn more to explore the subject a little more. For the moment, Elyze gives the choice between 15 political personalities, but this number could change since some could withdraw, not have the necessary sponsorships or “wake up” late. If you want to know more about a candidate’s background and their program, you can also do so from the app. Launched on January 2, Elyze has already been downloaded more than 50,000 times on the Google play store, but it is also found on theApple App Store. It takes about 20 minutes to use the app “seriously”, but it’s definitely worth a try. Avoid answering too often with indecision because the results will be less precise …
We answered randomly to the questions to take these screenshots and our podium is inevitably quite unique … But if you take the test seriously, you have chances to see more clearly when voting.
