You can meet Ironfist Alexander for the first time in Limgrave. On the hill west of Holy Bridge in north Limgrave you can hear Alexander’s cries for help. He’s stuck in the ground here and needs your help.
Talk to Alexander and select the dialogue option “Help him.” To help him off the ground, you’ll need to hit him from behind a few times with any weapon. Repeat your hits until he’s freed. As a reward you will receive the Triumphant Cheers Emote and after you have spoken to him again, you get additional 1x Better Meat.
He also tells you that he is on his way east to Caelid and that a festival for warriors is being held there at Castle Redmane.

Next time you can Alexander at the rear entrance of the Gael Tunnel in north-east Limgrave meet. Enter the cave through the shaft and you’ll find him in front of the blocked door in the first cave area. Exhaust all dialogues with him again so that he informs you about his predicament.
To open the door for him, you must enter the Gael Tunnel from the other side. The entrance is not far southeast in Caelid. Fight your way through the dungeon and then open the door to the left of the large gate that leads to the dungeon boss.
Talk to Alexander again and exhaust all dialogues with him. He will now be his Journey to Castle Redmane continue.
A notice: The meetings with Alexander in Limgrave and in the Gael Tunnel are optional. Even if you don’t complete these steps, you will still meet Alexander in Castle Redmane. It’s only from here that you really have to be careful so that the quest continues.
Alexander in Redmane Castle
From 6:08 in the video
You will meet Alexander again in the large square in Castle Redmane (Place of Grace “Chamber Outside the Square”). You can talk to him again here and then summon Radahn to help you fight Star Scourge.
In order for his quest to continue, it is crucial that you speak to him after defeating Radahn. He rummages around in the ground for corpses just south of the Star Scourge Radahn place of mercy. Exhaust all dialogues with him here so that he moves on to the next location.
Alexander in Liurnia (Optional)
From 9:02 in the video
Next you can meet Alexander in Liurnia. He’s stuck in the ground again here, just south of the Carian Lecture Hall, and you’ll need to help him free himself again. Unfortunately, punches don’t help this time, instead you have to make him “slippery”.
Optionally use one oil pot or one Oil pot with cord. You can craft both items yourself after purchasing the Nomadic Warrior’s Handbook (17) from the merchant in Siofra. Free him to continue.
A notice: In our gameplay we didn’t meet Alexander in Liurnia, but only again at his next location in Gelmir. If you have already advanced too far into other regions, this may also happen to you.
Alexander in Gelmer
From 9:36 in the video
In the far west of Gelmir at the lava lake you will encounter the Magma Wyrm boss. Defeat him first and then talk to Alexander who is standing where the lava is pouring out of the mountain. You can hop onto the rocks to his left and then talk to him from a distance so the lava doesn’t hurt you.
He steels his warrior body in the hot lava and hands you the Vessel Helm if you exhaust all his dialogues. The Vessel Helm amplifies the effects of throwing pots when you equip it.
You can then summon Alexander the Warrior Vessel to fight the Fire Giant at Giant’s Peak. You can find his summoning sign by using the north entrance (north chain) to the boss area. After a few meters, the sign appears on the left on the ground. However, note that you cannot use your horse in battle if you enlist the help of Alexander.
Alexander in Farum Azula
From 12:09 in the video
Alexander’s quest ends in the crumbling Farum Azula. After defeating the duo of godscalps and the Place of Mercy “Dragon Temple – Altar” unlocked, you can reach Alexander. Head north from here and then continue north-west.

The elevator behind will take you up to the Place of Mercy “Dragon Temple – Elevator”. From here keep to the right and walk over the collapsed tower to the platform with Alexander.
He challenges you to a duel against him, which starts right after you last talked to him. So keep your distance so he doesn’t kick you off the platform with his first attack. Magic doesn’t do much for Alexander, so it’s best to use bludgeoning weapons to defeat him quickly. If you lose the fight, you can keep challenging Alexander until you succeed.
Talk to him after the fight to get an as Quest Rewards the talisman “Shard of Alexander” (increases the attack power of talents by 15%) and that Alexander’s Guts Key Object to obtain. Alexander then says goodbye with a bang and you have successfully completed the quest.
