E-car drivers will finally have an easy time of it
Anyone who drives an e-car is familiar with the problem: If you are driving outside of your usual area, you have to rely on apps to find suitable charging stations. Because you can usually only pay for electricity where you are a member. Aral wants to make it easier for customers at its charging stations.
While most e-car drivers have to gondola their electric vehicles to fixed charging stations because the necessary charge does not come from every socket – or at least it cannot be paid for everywhere – Aral will soon change that: for the blue filling stations will that Plug & Charge procedure tested (Source: Aral).
Tesla as a model: Plug & Charge at Aral throughout Germany this year
The charging technology from Tesla is well-known: the charging cable is plugged in, the electric car and charging station communicate via cable while charging, billing of the amount of electricity and payment take place automatically via a customer account.
Aral is introducing Plug & Charge at so-called ultra-fast charging stations. Columns with up to 350 kilowatts are currently being built at filling stations across Germany. Until the end of the year it should make it possible to load and pay easily.
The advantages for customers are obvious: You can do without apps and charging cards. It is always practical. But it also requires customers to trust the technology and its safety. Because, for example, many fast charging stations have not yet been calibrated.
Aral explains: The direct and encrypted communication between the car and the charging station is secure. They want electric car drivers “under the Aral pulse brand fastest, easiest and safest charging network Offer”. How quickly, exactly, is not given, however.
Charging e-cars is still not as easy as filling up, that’s a fact. On the other hand, you can find some errors about e-cars in Video:
In addition, a foundation stone is being laid for future possibilities for e-mobility. For example, automatic billing processes and charging processes are crucial for wireless charging of e-cars or to integrate e-cars into the power grid as mobile storage devices. Aral is building on the existing infrastructure for filling stations and can thus increase the number of available charging points.
Aral has to get e-car manufacturers on board
However, there are still some hurdles: On the one hand, there is the offer only makes sense if it works across manufacturers. To achieve this, Aral is working with the e-car manufacturers, and Tesla will soon go from being a role model to being a competitor. Elon Musk has announced that Tesla’s Superchargers will be opened to other brands.
