Dying Light 2 will not be able to play the lone wolf style -apkrig
Developers from the Polish studio Techland have released another video in which, according to an earlier promise, they answer questions from fans. After the first part, in which we learned more about the size of the world, the structure of missions, story choices or enemies, the developers now focused on the supporting characters, the connection to the first part or the way the game will have to be played. As at the end of April, the answers are quite interesting, although it can be understood that lead designer Tymon Smektała did not want to talk too much about the details of the story and rather focused on general information that would not reveal anything significant in advance. This also applies to the answer to the frequently asked question, from which the sequel DLC The Following is actually based on the first part, but players will have to find out for themselves only after the release that Techland is planning for this year.
“It’s still a little early for me to tell you. But one thing I can tell you – the events in Dying Light 2 and the circumstances that lead to them are very strongly connected with what happened in the first part, “says Smektała. It therefore refers to the actual playing of the upcoming game, regardless of the fact that it takes place many years after the original game and, of course, in a completely different place. Inevitably, however, this leads to what fans may not be happy to hear – in Dying Light 2, according to the developers, we will not meet any character known from before. On the other hand, the lead designer promises that the newly introduced NPCs will not be any less interesting and there are a lot of situations waiting for players, in which there will be a closer depiction of their characters or a deepening of their relationship. One of the questions then headed towards a possible romantic line – especially with regard to Kyle and Jade from number one – but Smektała basically denied it.
The developers also set certain guidelines in the case of cooperation with the two represented factions, which they talked about at the end of April.
“Of course, you can expect strong and complex relationships between the characters. There will also be important female characters in the game. But romantic the possibilities that BioWare, for example, offers in its games will not be in our game, it is simply not our intention, ”explains the designer. Again, it indirectly underlines that the developers want to let the player live a pre-arranged story as formed by screenwriters, including Chris Avellon, who was forced to leave during the game’s development due to accusations of sexual harassment by one of his former colleagues. The developers also set certain guidelines in the case of cooperation with the two represented factions, which they talked about at the end of April. The military organization Peacekeepers wants to destroy the infected and restore peace by force, while the Survivors strive to survive, facilitate movement around the city and establish peace in fragile symbiosis with danger lurking all around. The player will then have to choose which of the factions he wants to side with, and Tymon Smektała refuted that it would be possible to play the game neutrally.
The designer explained that the world of Dying Light 2 is relentless and that a man who has no friends would die quickly. “And because we don’t want you to die quickly, you have to make a decision and decide whether to join one or the other,” the developer adds. However, during the answer to the questions, the name of the GRE faction – Global Relief Effort – was heard, for which the main character of the first part worked, but about which we still do not know much. But we should also mention it in Dying Light 2, and the developers suggest that part of the mystery will certainly unravel.
