Download videos from Instagram to your iPhone
Instagram has made it quite difficult to download videos. You can bookmark a video and find it that way, but when the video is deleted it is gone forever.
If you really like a video on Instagram, it is therefore better to download the video to your iPhone. iPhoned gives you two ways to do this!
Set assignment for Instagram
Before you can download the Instagram videos, you need to set a few things first. First you need the Instagram Download Command. You download this to your iPhone in the following way.
The Instagram Download Command also requires two additional apps, Scriptable and a-Shell mini. Download both apps from the App Store.

Have you installed both apps? Then you start the Instagram Download Command. Open the Assignments app, tap ‘My Assignments’ and ‘Instagram Download’.
Give the Command access to the Scriptable app when prompted. A menu will then appear with which you have to log in with your account details on Instagram.
Choose ‘Sign in / Switch accounts’ and log in to the Instagram website by tapping ‘Sign in’. Then choose ‘Save data’. You can now close the app.
Instagram Start Download
The first time you use the Instagram Download Command, you have to give permission several times. Once that’s done, you don’t have to do it again later. To download a video from Instagram, follow the steps below.
- Open the Instagram app and scroll to the video you want to download;
- Tap the video to open it;
- Tap the three dots at the bottom right, choose ‘Share with…’, scroll down and tap ‘Instagram Download’;
- Sometimes you will get several notifications that you need to give ‘Instagram Download’ access, always tap on ‘Always allow’;
- Tap ‘a-Shell mini or a-Shell is installed’ when prompted;
- Choose the date you want to set for the video;
- You can now choose the album where you want to save the video, choose ‘Recent’;
- On the question ‘Post caption on clipboard’, tap ‘Always no’. The video will now appear in your photo album.
Download videos from Instagram via website
There is another way to download videos from Instagram to your iPhone. For this you need to enlist the help of the website igram.io. You copy the link of an Instagram post and paste it into this website. Then it is possible to download the video.
Download videos from Instagram on iPhone
- Open the Instagram app and scroll to the video you want to save;
- Open the video and tap the three dots at the bottom right;
- Choose ‘Copy link and open Safari on your iPhone, surf to igram.io and paste the url in the text box.
- Tap ‘Download’, wait for the video to appear. Tap the blue ‘Download’ button and then ‘Download’ again;
- When the video appears, tap the Downloads arrow in the Safari address bar and choose ‘Downloads’;
- Tap the video, then click the share icon at the bottom left and choose ‘Save video’.
