Donald Trump announces the arrival of Truth, his own social network, in early 2022
Donald Trump has just announced the launch of Truth. Evicted from Twitter, Facebook and most platforms, the former President of the United States has developed his own social network for his supporters and supporters of conspiracy theories.
The end of Donald Trump’s reign was notably marked by his open war against social networks. After having flouted the rules of moderation of platforms on several occasions (notably during the attack on the Capitol), the former president of the United States found himself banned from Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and most networks. Snapchat also took a similar step for inciting violence against the politician.
Annoyed by the measures taken against him, Donald Trump suggested the idea of banning Facebook and Twitter in the United States. In the process, the billionaire has promised to launch his own social network in the coming months. Through a press release published on October 20, 2021, Donald Trump announced the arrival of Social Truth.
Trump to launch alternative to Facebook and Twitter
With this social media, the 45th President of the United States wishes “resist in the face of the tyranny of the giants of technology ”, who have “used their one-sided power to silence dissenting voices in America ”. As always, Trump accuses Twitter, Facebook and the like of wanting silence his supporters and, more generally, all Republicans.
“We live in a world where the Taliban have a huge presence on Twitter, while your favorite US president has been silenced. This is unacceptable. I am excited to share my thoughts on Truth Social and resume the fight against Big Tech ”, continues Donald Trump. To oversee the project, he set up the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG). This organization will offer a video on demand service and podcasts.
The social network Truth will first be available in beta version by invitation (like Clubhouse in its early days) from November 2021. The final version of the platform is scheduled for the first half of next year. Trump especially hopes to attract his supporters there.
