When DICE developers introduced the Portal mode from the new Battlefield 2042 at the end of July, they put the freedom to build their own game modes in the foreground, including a logical web editor for more experienced users. One of the few limitations of the Portal was the inability to create a battle royale mode, probably because the people of DICE themselves are preparing their own game in the form of Warzone connected to the rival Call of Duty. However, despite the bans, one battle royal regime was born in the Portal and it must be acknowledged that it is not bad at all. Almost everything works like any other similar game, and the author of the fashion – independent developer Christian Muhler – was able to circumvent many restrictions.

Information about the Warfield 100 appeared on Twitter and provided a detailed look at how the whole regime works and how Muhler dealt with, for example, a shrinking zone or collecting new weapons and equipment. “After spending more hours in the editor on the web than I’m willing to admit, I’m happy to announce the creation of a full-fledged battle royal experience in the Portal,” Muhler begins his work. He further explains that the game is ready for 100 players and also includes an obligatory lobby before the start of the match itself, where players can shoot after each other and warm up before their own action. After the time limit expires, they will parachute to the battlefield and everything continues as you would probably expect.

If you are wondering how Chrisitan Muhler solved the movement and shrinkage of the combat zone, you need to skid the most. The circles – internal and external – define the soldiers controlled by artificial intelligence, who are visible on the minimap and directly in the game thanks to the setting of a constant sightings, ie dragged in red. Using a web editor, they have a set behavior to download to the current center of the zone at a specific speed, which in the end does not seem exactly aesthetically pleasing, but functionally everything is in perfect order. If a player is outside the zone, he will be dealt damage, and if he does not return, he will be eliminated. But beware, Muhler wanted to give the players a chance, so he also incorporated into his Warfield the prison mechanism known from the aforementioned Warzon. This is another small slice on the map marked by four border boti and in which you have to kill another player to get back into the match. On the second visit to prison, you have to kill two and everything continues until four deaths, after which the player is eliminated from the match for good.

Muhler had the biggest problem with collecting loot. The portal does not allow you to place objects on the map so that they can be seen, but you can still spawn them there and the distance indicator in the upper right corner is used for orientation. If the player gets in close proximity to the equipment, which is visible at least on the minimap, you just have to kneel three times and he will be assigned a random item. It’s not ideal, but again – we’re talking about bending all sorts of rules to achieve a result that’s fully functional, and Muhler will work on it further. In the end, he thanks everyone for the positive feedback and also refers to his small studio One Duck Theory, which feeds him. He has his first mobile game, Sudowords, and mentions in his post on Reddit that he will soon delight his fans with another title.

Finally, the question remains how the DICE developers will react to this. The ban on creating battle battles came from some reason and it is quite possible that the server on which the game is running – Warfiel 100 – Battle Royale – will be terminated. The same may apply to the possibility of hosting the game using the AAGDWA code, but Christian Muhler doesn’t care too much about it and takes his action in response to the unspoken challenge that the authors themselves described by the embargo. declared.
