Death Stranding has sold over 5 million copies -apkrig
Kojima Productions boasted of the sales success of Death Stranding. It has sold over 5 million copies together on PS4 and PC. At the same time, it has the potential to grow even more thanks to the upcoming Director’s Cut edition for PlayStation 5. This was revealed by the head of publishing Jay Boor in an interview for GamesIndustry.biz magazine.
The studio remained almost the same, but it works differently
Since this is the debut of Kojima Productions as a separate team, the game was led by Boora very well. How is it compared to other titles? One of the most successful new brands for the PlayStation in recent years – Ghost of Tsushima – reached 6.5 million copies, albeit on a console alone. This makes Death Stranding a very nice success.
Jay Boor said Kojima Productions’ studio hasn’t changed much since the game’s release, although it has grown a bit. But the way he works has changed. Like the other teams, the local developers had to adapt to the challenges of coronavirus. But Boor also noted that the pandemic changed players’ views on Death Stranding a bit. Reactions before and during a pandemic are said to be different.
According to Boor, the players now feel a stronger connection with Sam, who, paradoxically, does not care much about making contacts himself.
We all now have to isolate ourselves from the world around us, just like the characters in the game. We all have limited contact and at the same time we want to maintain ties with others. And maybe more than ever we can appreciate how important a role is played by someone who delivers a package or shipment to us, similar to what the main character Death Stranding does.
Thanks to this, according to Boor, the players feel a stronger connection with Sam, who, paradoxically, does not really care about making contacts. Fans now share similar experiences and impressions on social networks with developers. Which, according to Boor, will also have to be enough for us to be able to meet in person at physical events again, which is normally a place where face-to-face authors meet their supporters. Still, we can make and maintain strong connections, which is exactly what Death Stranding is all about, Jay Boor thinks.
