Abus door lock: Amazon refunds purchase amount
The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) recently issued a warning against using the “HomeTec Pro CFA3000” wireless door lock. According to the BSI Attackers could outwit Abus Castle and thus gain access to apartments and houses. Now Amazon has also reacted and written to customers who have bought the door lock in the past.
The email from Amazon states that Customers should send the wireless door lock back to the group. Further use is not recommended. Customers should go to the online returns center and select “Defective” as the reason for the return. According to Amazon, the word “recall” should suffice as a description. Possible postage costs will be reimbursed by Amazon. Refunding the purchase amount may take five to seven business days after Amazon receives the returned item.
If there are problems with the return, the support of the group will help. This should happen more often in the case of the Abus door lock, since the return time has often already expired. Customers then receive a return label for their package or a QR code for DHL or Hermes via Amazon support.
This is how Abus advertised the wireless door lock:
Abus: successor door lock is safe
According to Abus, the “HomeTec Pro CFA3000” is a discontinued model for which a successor has been available since March 2021. According to the manufacturer, this is safe, and the BSI has not yet issued a warning either. Customers can identify the successor model by the QR code on the enclosed key card and the Bluetooth logo on the door lock packaging.
