ČSOB SmartBanking in the Huawei AppGallery store
For the sixth year in a row, the Smart banka survey once again brings a nationwide competition for the best banking applications in Slovakia. You can vote for your favorite banking applications from 19 January to 15 March 2021.
As part of the survey, we are preparing a series of articles that are intended to introduce readers to the individual functionalities of Slovak banking applications, on the basis of which you can decide which of them you will vote for. The Huawei AppGallery store also contains applications from all important Slovak banks. In this article, we will introduce the application in more detail ČSOB SmartBanking.

The ČSOB SmartBanking application is intended for ČSOB clients who have an activated electronic banking service. The client logs into the application by default using a PIN or biometrics. The application runs completely on Huawei services, without the need to use Google services. It is not truncated in any way and the client can use all functions. In its latest update, the Payme service has been added and the option to top up credit directly in the application.
Why was the app published in the AppGallery?
Huawei smartphones have the largest representation among the bank’s client brands. After the bank was approached by the Slovak representation of Huawei, the decision was more or less unambiguous. It would be unfair to deprive many owners of Huawei devices of a banking application.
Have expectations been met? Do clients download the application from AppGallery?
Intensive migration of clients with Huawei devices from Google Play to AppGallery exceeded initial expectations. Because this manufacturer’s devices prefer AppGallery for updates, almost all of these clients have automatically started using the version of the app that is in this store.
What’s the difference between publishing apps and communicating with Huawei vs Google?
The AppGallery developer console offers the best features from both Google Play and AppStore stores, and is constantly adding new features. Within the speed of publishing applications, the mentioned stores are very similar. ČSOB representatives praise the quality technical and business support and almost personal approach of the Slovak representation of Huawei.
How is the app different from the Google Play version?
The version of the application for AppGallery is basically exactly the same as the standard Android version. The only difference is that it does not use Google services. In the case of SmartBanking, this affected map-related functions and scanner functions. HMS services (Huawei Mobile Services) are used for these functions.
