Yes, even though there aren’t that many rules about crypto you can still be wanted by the FBI if you’re a crypto scammer.
And we’re not just talking about scams here. This lady is suspected of having alienated a good 4 billion dollars. One of the co-founders of Onecoin, Ruja Ignatova, also known as the ‘Cryptoqueen’ is wanted. She was added to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) list of ten most wanted fugitives on Thursday.

In addition to adding the Cryptoqueen to the most wanted list, the FBI is offering a reward of up to $100K for tips. These should lead to the arrest of the 42-year-old woman. Ruja Ignatova is known for her involvement in the Onecoin Ponzi scam. And it is estimated that the scam would have scammed people out of $4 billion. The pyramid scheme promoted Onecoin as a blockchain project with a native cryptocurrency. But there was no blockchain and no real crypto asset behind the scam. So fake, with the aim of getting rich yourself.
However, Onecoin’s management, recruits and Ignatova promoted the project as if it were a “Bitcoin killer”. From late 2014 to March 2016, Ignatova pitched Onecoin sales and regularly recruited members. In January 2017, the Onecoin exchange xcoinx shut down indefinitely and Ignatova disappeared.

On June 30, 2022, the FBI added the Cryptoqueen to the US-based list of the ten most wanted fugitives. The list, introduced in March 1950, was created to promote the arrest of America’s criminal masterminds. In the past 72 years, Ignatova has entered the list as the eleventh woman selected by the FBI.
