Costs and advantages of the “Fan” & “Mega Fan” subscription
The anime streaming service Crunchyroll is also available free of charge, but then you have to put up with commercial breaks. With a premium membership you get rid of the annoying advertising and benefit from other advantages. We’ll show you what these are and what the various Crunchyroll subscriptions cost here on GIGA.
Even if Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and other video-on-demand services are offering more and more anime and generally films and series productions from Japan, the true “otaku” hardly has a detour to one of the real anime streaming services. Crunchyroll is an international player here and is probably one of the best-known niche streaming services.
We have put together a wish list for you here which animes we think urgently need a remake:
Crunchyroll Premium: Subscription costs
In contrast to many other streaming services, Crunchyroll has the advantage that you can watch many of the series contained in the digital catalog for free. Here, however, you have to accept some deductions: Without a premium membership, you can only see the animes in SD (480p) and with several commercial breaks.
If you want to see the series in HD (720p, 1080p) and without advertising, you have to take one of the two premium memberships. The usual Premium subscription “Fan” costs 6.99 euros per month. The extended premium membership “Mega Fan” also offers you offline playback and simultaneous streaming on multiple devices – but you have to be ready for that 9.99 euros per month (or € 99.99 a year).
